Synopsis:
Also known as Song of the Sun. Kaoru is a 16 year old girl who suffers from a rare skin condition called xeroderma pigmentosum - if the sun's light touches her skin she will die. Although she can never go out in the daylight - she's optomistic. Her alarm clock wakes her up at sunset and she wonders the empty streets alone. The moon and a small candle are her only light and the empty streets are her world. In darkness she writes and sings her 'Song of the Sun'. Her only company is a cousin who likes to skip school to visit her and keep her company and eat her food! However, Kaoru is in love (and has been for awhile) with a boy she sees waiting at a bus stop every morning from her window. She will fall in love and realize life is worth living, but just because she is willing to live in the darkness - her sickness will worsen. This movie may make you cry...It's so sad! This story was also made into a mini Japanese drama that you can download in the Japanese drama section.
