» Using Codec For SubtitlesSupplied by Obentou!! After you have joined the videos with HJSplit, you might encounter problems when you try to play them in your media player. This happens when you don't have the right codecs installed. For example, when you try to play a file, the audio part plays, but you can't see the video. This usually happens with .AVI files. To solve this problem, you have to download certain codecs. We recommend K-Lite Codec Pack: K-Lite Codec Pack Download When you click on the download link, you will see three different versions of the K-Lite Codec Pack: Basic, Standard, and Full. The Standard pack should be able to meet your needs. After downloading and installing the K-Lite Codec Pack, you should have no problems playing the media, regardless of what player you use (Windows Media Player, Winamp, VLC Media Player, Media Player Classic, or anything else -- it doesn't matter). HOW TO PLAY VIDEO FILES WITH SOFTSUBS I did a little tutorial on how to watch your downloaded videos with soft subs. All you need is the Media Player Classic that came with the K-Lite Codec Pack you downloaded. Click on Images to see in full view 1. Go to your Program Files folder. (Usually, it is in your C: drive).
2. Open the 'K-Lite Codec Pack' folder. ![]() 3. You will see the folder for Media Player Classic. Open it. then you will see the following: ![]() Right-click on 'mplayerc' (make sure you click the one with the 321 icon). Select 'Send to', and then select 'Desktop (create shortcut)'. You will now see the Media Player Classic icon on your desktop. Double-click on it. 4. Your Media Player Classic should be opened. The next step will be to load the video. Click on 'File", and then select ' Quick Open File'. Another way to do this is to press Ctrl + Q. A window that looks like this will pop up: ![]() Locate your video and select it. I used the "Hana and Alice" movie as an example. 5. Your video should be playing. Pause it for a moment, and then click on 'File', then 'Load Subtitle'. Or just press Ctrl + L if you want.
6. Now a window should pop up. Locate your subtitle and select it.
7. You can now resume playing your video. It will have the subtitles playing as well.
