Synopsis:
This movie is is based on one of Japan's best selling and most controversial novels. Battle Royale takes place in a different timeline, where Japan is a "police state". 50 9th grade Japanese students are tricked every two years by being told they are on a school field trip - but instead are brought to an island. They are forced to wear metal necklaces that explode if they try to take them off. Here, on this island, the students (many of them friends for a long time) are told that they must play a game and the winner is the only one who may return home again. They must kill each other in order to win the game - in order to survive..
