Synopsis [wiki]
In 19th century Korea, a shipload of valuable handmade paper due as a biannual tribute to the King burns to cinders in the dock of a small, isolated island famous for its paper mill. Imperial detectives are sent to investigate the arson, but also must deal with a sudden series of grisly murders that seem to be connected with the paper mill's previous owner, a man executed as a traitor a few years back. Soon, Imperial detective Won-kyu is in a race against time to discover the identity of the murderer before more lives are lost and prove that these crimes are not the work of a vengeful spirit as the island's inhabitants believe it to be.
